Fantasy Football League winner: Jameson Williams (Fantasy Football 2022)

It seems like rookies keep popping up in later seasons to help fantasy managers claim fantasy football glory. We expect 2022 to be the same. Let’s take a look at a rookie wide receiver who could help win fantasy football leagues this season: Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams.

Jameson Williams 2022 Fantasy Football Outlook

Williams might not enter the field until October, making him a tough guy to hide in redraft formats. Additionally, Williams’ vertical ability cannot be capitalized with Jared Goff under center.

Goff’s average throwing depth has declined over the past four seasons, with his last mark of 2021 (6.8) ranking dead last among the 38th qualified quarterbacks. He has also averaged just 13 completions from over 20 airyards over the past two seasons. Williams finished in the top seven among all college wide receivers in receiving yards on 20-plus air yard throws in 2021.

However, Williams also has top-tier YAC capability, so he should be able to recover some production when he returns from injury.

And while Goff’s lack of playing depth isn’t ideal, we’ve already seen it fuel WR’s top fantasy seasons in Los Angeles and Detroit. Most recently with Amon-Ra St. Brown, who was the WR3 fantasy to close out last season. Williams earned a 31% dominance rating last season as he hauled for 1,561 receiving yards, 20 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns — all top-three accomplishments in his 2022 NFL Draft class.

No one will be shocked to see Williams outplay the combination of St. Brown and TJ Hockenson once he’s fully acclimated on offense.
