A Melbourne suburban football club has released a statement to say it is “extremely saddened” after senior players were filmed performing a public sex act during the Black Monday celebrations.
Video of the act, which appears to have taken place in a public bar in front of teammates, has spread across the internet.
The shocking video shows a player exposing his genitals before another man performs a sex act on him as cheering can be heard in the background of the video.
Glen Waverley Football Club has confirmed the players involved are members of the club’s senior playing squad and confirmed the video was taken this week during end of season celebrations which were not sanctioned by the club.
The Sun Herald reports that a customer also claims that the players were also abusive towards other people in the public establishment.
The Glen Waverley Football and Netball Club has issued a letter to its members and the wider community stating that the players involved will be disciplined.
“The committee has been made aware of an incident that occurred during the post-season celebrations of some of our senior players,” the statement read.
“Although this happened outside the club and is not a club-sanctioned event, we are extremely saddened and disappointed by the behavior shown by people who should be better informed.
“The club is taking immediate action to address the serious breach of our culture and values that occurred during this incident.
“Those involved, as well as the wider playing group, will be both disciplined and educated and, if necessary, advised on the type of conduct expected by members of our club, as well as the physical and emotional impact that it has had on the families involved, club members, players and the wider community,” the statement read.
“There is no further comment at this time, and we ask that the wellbeing of these be respected as they deal with the impact of the incident.”
