The Allgäu Comets (1-2) will travel to Munich today to face the boiling Cowboys in a key game for the GFL South.

Munich started a surprising 4-0 in the German Football League season under Nadine Nurasyid. Nuryasid was announced as the club’s head coach in November, making her the first-ever female head coach after being an important part of the organization since 2018.

Whatever Nursyid told his team, it works. The Cowboys have found the perfect blend of dominant attack and reliable defense. The club have given up just 43 points from their 163 points earned in four games so far. Munich acquired an identity that only improves as the game progresses. They’re averaging just under 17 points per game in the fourth quarter. The majority of that offensive showcase has been attributed to quarterback Wyatt Smith who has had an incredible start to the year averaging 217 yards per game with a 74% completion rate. defensive side, Munich was led by freshman Cowboy linebacker Patrick Kenney leads the team with 21 tackles. Kenney played for four years at Bryant University (NCAA Div.1) before signing with Munich back in April.

Return to allgäu, it was not the beginning comets hoped. Sitting at 1-2, they currently sit fourth in the standings in the South. Although it’s not a pretty start, Allgau is not as bad as their record looks. In the first week, they lost by a single point against the Straubing spiders. In week two, they put on a masterclass performance in a 48-20 win over the Ravensburg Razorbacks. Then they lost 42-28 to the division-leading and unbeaten Unicorns of Schwäbisch Hall. To add to this point, Allgau has only been outclassed by 13 of its opponents this year.

Whether Allgau wants to make it 2-2, they gon’ have to find a way to stop Munich air attack. The Cowboys the ground attack does not have the same impact. If the comets want to give their offense a chance, they have to force Munich running the ball. Veteran linebacker Niall Padden will play a major role today in directing the defense. He currently has 31 tackles on the year and has been nothing short of fantastic. But if he wants to win, he will also have to work to propel his teammates around him.
