Penn State Football adds transfer hunter Nourzad

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pennsylvania. – Penn State football announced the addition of an offensive lineman Nourzad Hunter. Nourzad comes to Penn State after spending the past four years at Cornell University.

Career: Ended career at Cornell by starting 20 consecutive games at right tackle.

Awards: 2021: Earned AFCA Second-Team All-America honors… Won third-team All-America laurels from Phil Steele… Named Phil Steele’s Ivy League Offensive Lineman of the Year… Was a First-Team All-America selection -Ivy League…Won all academic -Ivy League Honors…Was a William V. Campbell Trophy semi-finalist…Named to the NFF Hampshire Honor Society. 2019: Earned second-team All-Ivy League honors.

Season: 2021: Started all 10 games… Led an offensive line that led the Ivy League and ranked fifth nationally with 0.9 sacks allowed per game, three less than any other Ivy League school allowed… Cornell’s offensive line allowed a school-high nine sacks, breaking a previous mark of 17 despite ranking the Ivy second in pass attempts… The Big Red were second in the Ivy League and 16th nationally for the fewest tackles for loss allowed (4.2 per game)… The Big Red have not allowed a sack against nationally – rated VMI, Colgate or Penn and no more than two in any game . 2019: Started all 10 games at right tackle… Offense increased scoring average, total offense and rushing touchdowns from 2018… Offensive line allowed one fewer sack in five of the Ivy’s seven games Team League… The team had four games with over 400 yards on offense and two games on the ground for 200 yards.

HIGH SCHOOL

Was captain for two years at Walker School, where he played for head coach Matt Casper…Twice named an all-state selection by the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Recruit Georgia and the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association…Won three times all-region honors, including two years on the first team… Was named regional lineman of the year as a senior… Also earned all-county first-team honors as a senior… Literate in lacrosse and track and field… Won all-region honors in the shot put.

STAFF

Full name is Hunter Lee Nourzad…Son of John and Jamie Nourzad…Has one sister…Engineering graduate from Cornell.

A total of 38 men of letters are returning for Penn State in 2022. The Nittany Lions are returning 12 starters – six on offense, five on defense and one on special teams. PSU will face nine teams that participated in a bowling match during the 2021 campaign.
