Bears Pro Bowl return specialist Jakeem Grant has been placed on the injured list with an ankle injury. He will miss Sunday’s season finale against Minnesota and his 2021 season is over.
The Bears announced the decision Thursday after practice. Grant won his first Pro Bowl honors this season. His 97-yard punt return against the Green Bay Packers December 12 has been one of the most electric times of the season for the Bears. It was the longest punt return touchdown in the team’s 101-year history.
The Bears traded a future sixth-round draft pick in Miami for Grant in October. The 29-year-old is expected to become a free agent during the offseason.
“Our organization, I think they did a great job always trying to help us with the special teams players, and I think they did. [with Grant]”said Special Teams Coordinator Chris Tabor.
Meanwhile, outside linebacker Robert Quinn (shoulder) resumed full practice Thursday after taking a day off Wednesday.
Defensive tackle Akiem Hicks (ankle) was the only active roster who did not participate in practice Thursday. Nose tackle Eddie Goldman (finger), defensive back Duke Shelley (heel) and quarterback Andy Dalton (groin) suffer from previous injuries but were full participants on Thursday.
