Sporting KC (7-3-2, 23 points) have gone undefeated at home this season (5-0-2) and have allowed the first goal seven times in 12 appearances, going 5-1-1 in these situations.

About five minutes after the sky opened, Tristan Blackmon shot Salloi from behind just outside the box in the 58th minute, earning Blackmon a red card.

It didn’t take long for Sporting KC to regain its momentum. Salloi passed into the box which deflected a defender with Alan Pulido’s left foot. Pulido passed a dipping Romero (one save) in the 61st minute to tie the game.

Pulido left the game around 10 minutes later with an apparent ankle injury. He couldn’t put pressure on his right ankle.

LAFC (3-4-3, 12 points) has yet to win consecutive games this season.

Carlos Vela was not in the starting lineup for LAFC. He came in as a substitute in the 57th minute and had several scoring opportunities but was unable to convert.

LAFC went first on the board in the 24th minute when Kim Moon-Hwan left a left-footed shot from SKC goalkeeper Tim Melia (two saves). Moon-Hwan picked up a pass from Jose Cifuentes on a block and shot it into the lower right corner of the net.

Sporting KC commanded the first part of the first half, with more opportunities for possession and goal. But the goal blew the air out of the stadium as the crowd at Children’s Mercy Park grew pensive. The half ended with fairly even stats, with each team scoring six shots.
