Academic Professor Christopher Imumolen appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to help youngsters achieve their dreams in sports.
A statement made available to The punch said the researcher gave the advice during a sporting event that took place at the Baptist Academy in Obanikoro, adding that it was in partnership with the Nigeria-America Football Association, the Ministry of Education of Lagos State and the Lagos State Sports Commission.
It also offered N276m scholarship to 138 secondary school students who became the best in Nigeria Secondary School Flag Off for Football League.
Imumolen, who is the presidential aspirant of the Accord Party, said his belief was that the younger generation should be supported, saying it would help them realize their vision and passion, especially in the field of sports.
He said: “This tournament is not the first. We have been doing it quietly for fifteen years and we only involve the media.
“Apparently, the kind of leader we need in Nigeria is one who can help, especially, the young people who are the future.
The School Sports Director of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Dr. Oluyomi Oluwasanmi, who was represented by the Deputy Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Sola Aiyepekun advised the other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate Imumolen and impact the children who would be the leaders of tomorrow.
