Utah’s Kyle Whittingham shares his final thoughts on Ohio State ahead of the Rose Bowl

Utah coach Kyle Whittingham said his team were ready for Saturday’s Rose Bowl showdown against Ohio State and understood the opportunity that lay ahead. Utah makes its first appearance in the prestigious bowl game.

“We entered the league 11 years ago in the Pac-12 in Power 5 football. It was an amazing trip, but our guys made it this year,” Whittingham said on Friday. “That’s what we’ve been shooting for, like I said, for many years. So we’re thrilled with the opportunity to play Ohio State, a great football team, a great program, grounded in the tradition, one of the best programs in the country, year after year.

Ryan day said Friday that the Buckeyes could be without players in addition to those who have already chosen not to participate in the bowl game. The state of Ohio has a strict policy of not listing players with injuries or illnesses, but Day made an exception the day before kickoff.

There are a few guys in there who make decisions during the game, ”Day said. “Instead of going through all these guys, we’re going to take care of the readiness report. Some of these guys will be game-time decisions at the end of the week and closer to the game. “
