Will likely be named to the 2022 All-USFL Team



BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Former Maryland footballer William Likely III has been named to the All-United States Football League (USFL) first team. Out of a league of nearly 400 players, only 25 were selected.

Probably, a Houston Gamblers cornerback, ranks third in the USFL with four interceptions and 11th in the league with 63 tackles. He was one of 11 defensive players selected to the team.

Probably had a decorated career for the Terrapins, being was named the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) first-team All-American in 2015 after ranking third nationally with 1,197 rushing yards in 11 games during his junior campaign.

The Belle Glade, Florida native was also twice named to the All-Big Ten first team as a defensive back and was chosen as the first recipient of the Rodgers-Dwight Big Ten Return Specialist of the Year in 2015.

Likely owns or shares six different Maryland records and he broke a 76-year-old Big Ten record with 233 punt return yards in the Terps’ season-opening win over Richmond in 2015. He probably finished his junior season with three return touchdowns, including two punts and a kickoff. His kickoff return touchdown was a 100-yard run at Iowa. It was the second 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in Likely’s career.

He likely ended his Terrapin career by ranking second all-time at Maryland with 2,233 kickoff return yards, behind only Torrey Smith. His four career punt return touchdowns also rank second at Maryland. Likely’s two interception returns for touchdowns are the most tied in Maryland history and his 170 yards after interception in 2014 are the most ever for a Terp.

Probably was also honored earlier this year when he was named to RJ Young’s 2022 Midseason All-Star Team.
