After securing a camp offer from the Wisconsin Badgers in early June, athlete Cade Yacamelli wasted very little time planning an official visit to Madison this past weekend. The day after leaving campus, the Harrison City, Pa., Product announced his engagement to the Badgers on Monday afternoon and is now the fourth engagement, and second Monday, in the Class of 2022.
A three-star prospect according to both 247 Sports and Rivals, Yacamelli could plan to play several different positions with the Badgers. A standout at Penn Trafford High School, he played all over the field for his high school team, often lining up as a running back, wide catcher, safety and punt returner. In total, he amassed over 1,200 all-purpose yards and 12 touchdowns.
In terms of fit with the Badgers, safety on the surface seems to make the most sense, but he could also play the lunge on offense given his 6-foot, 200-pound frame. His recruitment and style of play closely resembles fellow Pennsylvania Preston Zachman, who is currently a security guard for Wisconsin and was also a versatile high school graduate.
Yacamelli chose the Badgers over other offerings from the Air Force, Army, Navy and a handful of Ivy League and FCS schools.
An impressive athlete, Yacamelli is difficult to face and quick in the open field. His Hudl profile lists a dash time of 4.48 at 40 yards and a shuttle time of 3.95, to accompany 25 reps on the bench press. He appears to be another high IQ football player who could help with many facets of the game including special teams when he enters campus.
With that commitment, the Badgers now have up to four commits into the 2022 class and are slowly starting to move up the recruiting ladder after a slow start. In the midst of another massive official visiting weekend, Wisconsin appears to be on some sort of recruiting drive that could continue with another big weekend in the works for June 25.
